This full home theater remodel in an upstairs entertainment area hides a nifty little secret. Rather than being just a high-end theater system, the new room, designed by SoundVision, LLC, also serves as a home office for the homeowner, becoming far more versatile a space that it had been originally.
Set out in Charlotte, North Carolina, the project was largely a trial in time management, as in working with electricians, builders, and other trades on the site, the team at SoundVision needed to coordinate their work accordingly to make the most of each visit.
“Waiting for [the other trades] to complete their portion of the remodel before we could proceed with our work required meticulous scheduling and patience,” stated Michelle Ferlauto of SoundVision. “This coordination was crucial to ensure that all elements were integrated seamlessly, but it did cause some delays.”

Additionally, the sheer distance between the site of the project and SoundVision’s main base of operations necessitated some smart logistics plays to ensure all the equipment would be on site for the days that they would be there.
Integrated Home Office Creates a Secluded WFH Environment
The home office portion of the theater room features a dual-monitor setup, high-speed internet, and smart home integration for a productive and inspiring workspace. A 4K AppleTV offers streaming capabilities, and a Control4 Remote with a WattBox IP-controlled Surge Protector ensures easy control and advanced remote support.
SoundVision also integrated WAC Lighting and American Lighting fixtures for the ceiling and step lights on the riser to enhance safety and ambiance.
“Overall, the homeowners were extremely satisfied with the final product, which has now become their new favorite place in their home,” Ferlauto noted. “The successful completion of this project, despite the challenges, highlights our commitment to delivering high-quality home theater solutions.”
Dual Office/Theater Room Provides Immersive Escape After Hard Day’s Work
Moving from the office to the theater room, the system features a 133″ acoustic transparent screen with concealed speakers, a SONY VPL-XW5000ES 4K HDR Laser Home Theater Projector with Native 4K SXRD Panel, and a Dolby Digital Surround sound system powered by a Sony AV receiver.

All equipment is housed in a ventilated hardware rack for optimal wire management and serviceability, located in the office behind the theater room. SoundVision also prewired for all the speakers and video equipment to facilitate easier integration into the main control system.
The projector is mounted in a cabinet enclosure with a Fiber Optic HDMI cable for high-quality video transmission, while in-wall Origin Acoustics speakers and an SVS subwoofer provide an immersive audio experience, with customized calibration for room acoustics and furniture placement.
