Crestron dealers have something to be excited about today, as the company just announced its releasing its Configure Pro platform for Crestron Home OS. According to Crestron, the new configuration platform has been built to help simplify system buildout through standardized, no-programming workflows built around the types of projects integrators are helping build today.
Much of the features making it to the platform today were shaped by dealer feedback from early access.
Crestron Vice President for Marketing Operations & Residential, Michael Short remarked that the new platform is built to give dealers a “faster, more intuitive, and more scalable way to deliver exceptional systems.”
“The best smart homes start with the best tools,” said Short.
What Configure Pro adds to the Crestron Home experience
According to Crestron, Configure Pro aims to make the minutia of setting up a Crestron Home system more intuitive by introducing new sets of tools.
Clear input and output labeling aim to simplify audio and video routing, while a visual keypad configuration tool provides a more readable layout for setting up actions, engraving, and button behavior.
There’s also a visual Sequence Editor with support for delays and conditional logic that aims to make it easier to build, understand and maintain strong system behavior without writing code.
Why integrators should take note
Crestron says it views the platform as providing a “modern foundation” for ongoing innovation in smart home configuration.
“Dealer time is valuable, and every minute spent searching, correcting, or waiting on another team member is time that could be spent moving the project forward,” Short explained further.
What has CE Pro’s attention is how Crestron has already expressed it plans to drive these innovations forward. In a separate interview conducted as part of a broader study looking at how different control platforms were experimenting with AI, Short himself said improving integrator workflows was front and center for Crestron’s AI plans.
“Instead of pushing AI directly to homeowners, Crestron is prioritizing the tools that help integrators deploy and maintain systems more efficiently,” writes CE Pro Executive Editor Zachary Comeau. “Only after that foundation is built will user facing intelligence come into play.”
It’s not too difficult to see then how Configure Pro could play into laying the groundwork for that foundation.
