  • Gramophone has purchased a 70,000-square-foot complex in Baltimore, Maryland to serve as its headquarters moving forward.
  • The complex spans roughly four acres across multiple buildings will house Gramophone personnel as well as multiple experience centers.
  • Gramophone also plans to host large-scale events as well as brand activations at the site.

Gramophone has been making some big moves over the last couple years with the latest being the acquisition of a 70,000-square-foot commercial complex that the firm intends to transform into its main headquarters and “innovation hub” for the Baltimore area. Certainly, a step up from the firm’s current showroom situation.

In speaking on the matter, Andrew Davis, CEO and Managing Partner, described the future facility as providing an opportunity for consumers and trade partners to “learn, create and explore what is possible in technology and entertainment.”

The purchase coincides with the firm’s 50th anniversary.

Gramophone’s plans for new headquarters

Spanning 70,000 square feet, Gramophone’s new headquarters will be set across nearly four acres with multiple interconnected buildings. As of right now, the campus is being developed to support continued growth of the organization, while strengthening Gramophone’s current design and integration businesses.

According to Gramophone, immersive environments throughout the space will showcase the latest in audio, video, lighting, advanced electrical and smart living, allowing guests to move through thoughtfully designed settings that blend performance with aesthetics and demonstrate how technology can seamlessly enhance everyday life.

The headquarters will also host large-scale events including partner activations, product launches and community gatherings, alongside curated experiences such as culinary demonstrations (reminding me of SAV’s “Quality Cuts), entertainment zones with golf simulators, and niche-focused programming.

Complex to co-host select technology/design brands and partners

While the space will mainly house Gramophone and its personnel, the company has stated there will be opportunities for select brands and partners to co-locate. The goal, according to the company, is to help foster a collaborative ecosystem centered around its central mission of delivering innovative systems through craftsmanship and elevated design.

Gramophone’s growth in the channel

The complex stands as a considerable milestone for Gramophone, representing the scale at which the company has grown over the years in ways that its numerous mergers and partnerships can’t quite capture otherwise.

From luxury audio retailer to an “all-encompassing design, build and technology service” provider, the new complex marks the company’s growth into something that now spans both technology and interior design within its business practice.

Coincidentally, Gramophone’s concurrent embrace of interior design within its practice reflects the broader trend going on in custom integration (CI) in the present day, that being the broader embrace of interior design principles into professional-grade smart home and home theater designs.
