Josh.ai has officially launched AI X OS, following what the company says has been a successful early access program. The early access was open to Josh.ai dealers to provide feedback and learn about the evolving user experience.

According to Josh, Insights from the program helped inform final refinements before finally validating the product’s market readiness.

“Overall, I am super impressed with load times and the general feel,” commented Ryan Grigsby of Sound Effects, LLC. “The Josh App feels like how the Apple Home app wants to be, and the general flow, feel, and look is lightyears beyond what any other home automation app could pretend to be at this time. Bravo!”

What AI X OS brings to the Josh.ai ecosystem

Broadly speaking, the launch of AI X OS expands the integration of AI across Josh’s control ecosystem, adding new capabilities to device control, interface customization and automation capabilities.

The new OS introduces a reimagined home page—customizable for each client—alongside a new navigation bar and reimagined voice interface. There’s also a means of accessing any active music or video session from anywhere in the Josh app to resume viewing or listening in other areas of the home.

Alongside these interface changes, all device controllers have also been updated, with Pool and Spa integrations being added for Jandy and Pentair system.

Additionally, the inclusion of AI across the OS now allows the system to actively recommend scenes to homeowners, in addition to letting them create their own scenes through simple descriptions made to the AI.

AI X OS aims to address growing complexity of smart home systems

According to Alex Capecelatro, CEO of Josh.ai, the main challenge AI X OS looks to address is the increasing level of complexity being introduced into smart home systems today.

“As homes grow to include more devices, services, and experiences, the control layer becomes more important than ever,” notes Capecelatro. “We’ve combined beautiful design, intelligent automation, and a deeply refined user experience to create a control platform that feels simpler, faster, and more natural, whether you’re managing a single room or an entire estate.”

Why integrators should take note

With the release of multiple AI capabilities to smart home platforms at both the consumer and professional level, the expectation of clients is now shifting heavily towards AI-enabled systems. Having embraced AI at a very early stage, Josh.ai has quickly become one of the forerunners of the industry when it comes to AI-enabled control systems.

While novel now, the ability for homeowners to tailor their control and automation system experiences to their own custom needs through intuitive interactions will likely become a mandatory feature across all control platforms as time moves on.
