Some big moves are happening over at the Home Technology Specialists of America (HTSA), as the group is initiating a formal search for a Managing Director, starting today. The group has assured members that the move is part of a planned leadership transition, targeting a year-end transition. However, HTSA has emphasized that priority is being placed on finding the right fit for the group.
The Search for HTSA’s Next Managing Director
HTSA has pointed out that this does not mean that Jon Robbins, HTSA’s long-time leader, is retiring. According to a statement provided by the Association, Robbins will continue to work full-time on behalf of HTSA, its members and its vendors through to December 31.
The group says this timeline is intended to provide focused leadership for day-to-day operations, programs, and initiatives, while ensuring the group remains strongly positioned to serve its members, vendors, and industry partners.
Beyond that date, Robbins said he plans to continue his career in the industry, though specifics as to what that might be are yet to be defined.
If timing aligns, the current plan HTSA has is for Robbins to help onboard and transition a new Managing Director so that person has a deep understanding of HTSA’s culture and community from day one.
Why Integrators Should Take Note
HTSA is unique among the buying groups in the custom integration (CI) industry for members who are some of the most pioneering firms within the industry.
Having been Executive Director for HTSA for nearly 11 years, Robbins has led the group alongside Tom Doherty, Keith Esterly, Nicole Gress, Jordan Fuchs and most recently, Steven Rissi, in shaping how its members engage with new technologies while educating integrators to face the challenges of the evolving industry.
Next Steps for HTSA
In that same statement, HTSA states that it remains fully committed to its core mission of supporting leading technology integrators and vendor partners, as well as to its growing collaboration with AVIXA and ProSource on Reside, the new co-located initiative at InfoComm that builds on the legacy of Lightapalooza.
The Managing Director role will ensure the organization has the leadership capacity and structure to sustain and expand these efforts.
