In an era where the size of system footprints keep shrinking, Marantz is swinging for the fences with its latest pair of products. The MCR 60n and MCR 60n DAB (Europe only) are a new generation of “all-in-one hi-fi systems,” with Marantz calling them the most extensive compact music system it has produced to date.
Built around the latest generation of HEOS and inspired by the latest Marantz design language, the MCR 60n combines CD playback, network streaming, HDMI eARC compatibility, turntable connectivity and premium amplification within a single, simplified component which Marantz says is tuned to the “modern music lover.”
On that note, because it’s built on the latest HEOS platform, Marantz claims the MCR 60n offers a faster, more intuitive setup experience compared to predecessors.
A Closer Look at the MCR 60n Features
The MCR 60n comes with four channels of amplification, including Bi-Amp, Parallel Bridge-Tied Load (BTL) and dual speaker outputs, which Marantz says allows users to optimize performance for different loudspeaker systems, with the device even being able to power two independent listening zones at once.
Its new power supply delivers greater current capability and increased amplifier headroom compared to older models. Output power has also been increased to 65 watts per channel into 4 ohms, providing a substantial performance improvement over its predecessor.
The MCR 60n also introduces advanced system optimization features typically reserved for much larger separates. A configurable subwoofer output with adjustable crossover settings allows precise low-frequency integration, while Dirac Live Room Correction is available as an optional upgrade for stereo playback.
Connectivity
Connectivity is where the system really seeks to differentiate itself for the modern era, however. The addition of HDMI eARC allows seamless integration with modern televisions, enabling high-quality stereo playback of TV sound while supporting HDMI-CEC volume control and Dolby Digital / Dolby Digital Plus decoding.
A newly integrated MM phono stage also makes connecting a turntable easy, while the precision-engineered front-loading CD mechanism continues Marantz’s longstanding tradition of compact disc playback.
High-resolution music streaming is equally comprehensive, supporting PCM up to 384kHz/32-bit, DSD up to 11.2MHz, all powered by the latest HEOS networking platform. Of course, Spotify, TIDAL and Qobuz Connect are also supported, as is AirPlay2 and Roon Ready.
Bluetooth functionality has also been significantly expanded, supporting both receive and transmit modes, meaning users can not only send music via Bluetooth from their phone, but also use their wireless headphones to listen to music or TV content late at night.
Variable audio outputs also allow MCR 60n to function as a premium streaming preamplifier, making it equally suitable for driving active loudspeakers or integrating with existing Marantz components and vintage Hi-Fi systems.
An Ethernet network port, USB input, optical digital input and DAB tuner (not applicable outside European markets) round out the specification.
Pricing and Availability
The all-new Marantz MCR 60n (MSRP $1000) and MCR 60n DAB (Europe only) will be available from authorized Marantz retailers and Marantz.com from September 15th, 2026. Available finishes will be in Matte Black and Marantz Champagne Gold (not available in North America).
