Eve continues to expand its product portfolio with Thread-enabled, Matter-compatible devices with the announcement of a new smart outlet, light switch, and motorized shading collection named the Eve Blinds Collection. Jerome Gackel, CEO of Eve Systems calls the new set of products “the most future-proof choices to manage energy usage, lighting and shading.”
While dozens of smart plugs exist on the market currently, the presence of smart outlets that are hardwired into the home’s infrastructure remains relatively sparse. While more intensive than a smart plug the outlet provides the immediate benefit of clean visuals to a home and is likely shine in remodels and new home builds.
Eve itself has a long-standing portfolio of smart energy and energy management products, such as its own Eve Smart Plug, which the Energy Outlet has roughly the same capabilities of in terms of load bearing. The Eve Energy Outlet, however, marks the first hardwired product within the company’s catalog, requiring a full replacement of the outlet and is meant to be a permanent fixture in the home.
The outlet can support loads up to 15 amps and 1800 Watts and features two receptacles that can be switched and automated individually. The outlet is only available in white and can be used in single- or multi-gang installations.
The outlets also offer advanced energy monitoring to users when placed on the Apple Home and Samsung SmartThings home ecosystems (having recently partnered with Samsung as the latter seeks to further expand the scope of its SmartThings ecosystem for energy management) . Of course, the devices will work on any Matter-compatible system, such as Amazon Alexa or Google Home, however, the energy monitoring feature will only be available in the Eve’s app on iOS or through the Samsung SmartThings app on iOS or Android.

Featuring Matter support and Eve’s Adaptive Shading Technology, the shades are designed to automatically close based on the position of the sun and are customizable with a curated collection of fabrics made-to-measure for interior windows.
Available for pre-order in semi-transparent and blackout options roller blinds from the Eve Blinds Collection will be available to order in the USA and Germany exclusively from the Eve Store starting on February 1st.

The interest in lighting and intelligent lighting control have grown rapidly within the smart home category, with many homeowners now recognizing the value and importance of proper lighting in the home. This greater awareness has also helped bolster the shading market somewhat as well, with motorized blinds and shades representing the other part of the equation: controlling the amount of sunlight and glare that enters into the home through windows. Of course, shades have also been receiving increased attention for their role in better thermal regulation in the home, as well as their potential for privacy and security.
