Sonos states that it is helping systems integrators capitalize on opportunities in both the residential and commercial AV markets, showcasing products like the Era 100 that have been optimized for professional installation in light-commercial and residential spaces at this year’s CEDIA Expo 2024.
As part of its show activities in booth #3508, Sonos will provide live demos and it also offer several dealer training sessions in Room 105.
Reestablishing Sonos’ presence as a key player in the custom installation market, the company will showcase its new Era 100 Pro solution. The popular audio company explains this new speaker is designed specifically for light commercial and residential applications, and the new speaker will be sold exclusively through Sonos’ professional partners. The Era 100 Pro and Surface Mount (sold separately) will be available globally in early 2025.
According to Sonos, the Era 100 Pro embodies compelling features developed with the needs of professional systems integrators in mind, including Power over Ethernet (PoE) for faster, easier installation, as well as an optional secondary safety attachment, and a professional-grade surface mount that delivers flexible mounting options to dealers.
The company also points out that its new software enables the creation of zones to simplify end-user control of multiple speakers and customization for larger listening environments. Users can bond speakers together into a predictable, unified system solution, providing a more consistent experience.

Sonos asserts the new commercial speaker leverages the same acoustic architecture as Era 100 to enable the Era 100 Pro to produce high levels of sound quality, which is unique from a PoE-based speaker. The professional-version speaker utilizes two 0.63 in / 16 mm silk, angled, high-frequency drivers and a 3.5 x 4.4 in / 90.8 x 111.9 mm carbon filled-polypropylene low-frequency driver and a Sonos crossover network that enables the Era 100 Pro to deliver a 240-degrees of horizontal dispersion from a compact profile.
New Era 100 Pro Backed by New Search API
Sonos emphasizes that it now plays even better with third-party control systems with the launch of a new search API. Complementing the existing Sonos control API, content can now be searched within multiple streaming services on touch screens from leading home systems manufacturers, with updated Works With Sonos integrations coming soon from partners including Control4, Crestron, RTI, Nice, and URC, and even more partners to deliver a user firendly search experience within their Sonos integrations on a rolling basis.
The new API search capabilities that will complement Sonos products, including the new Era 100 Pro provides benefits such as:
- Extended functionality and control: This upgrade simplifies navigation and accelerates access to preferred content from compatible music service partners across partner touch screens, with support for search, favorites, playlists, and recently played.
- Soundtrack every scene: Via the existing control API, Sonos music can be synchronized with lights, shading and more to deliver a more cohesive, immersive experience that complements end-users’ lifestyles. These scenes can be applied across all interfaces of a supporting control system, extending the ability to stream Sonos music throughout the entire home.
High-Performance Architectural Sound for Any Space with Sonos by Sonance
Other CEDIA Expo 2024 show highlights for Sonos beyond the Era 100 Pro and new API include the company’s Sonos Architectural speakers. Now available in an 8-inch in-ceiling design, these speakers deliver rich, detailed sound while blending discreetly into any space. Some of the features of the new Sonos Architectural Speakers include:
- Multiple designs: The in-ceiling speakers offer a wide soundstage, making them ideal for ambient music in open areas. The in-wall speakers can be used by integrators to help create immersive audio experiences in home theaters or multiroom setups. For outdoor environments, Sonos’ weather-resistant speakers ensure powerful, clear sound that’s perfect for patios, gardens, and other outdoor spaces.
- Even better with Amp: The company adds that when paired with Sonos Amp, these architectural speakers integrate effortlessly with the Sonos system, allowing for easy control and management through the Sonos app or third-party control systems. Amp also enables DSP and overdrive protection, optimizing the EQ and consistent volume dynamics throughout the frequency range. Additionally, Amp also enables Trueplay with the In-Ceiling and In-Wall speakers
