The Starry Night project was a collaboration between Lelch Audio Video and Joy Martin Architecture, resulting in a modern Minnesota home that seamlessly integrated advanced lighting and control systems without unsightly wall “acne” in the form of too many keypads and interfaces.
Minimalist Tech Presence Lets Custom Artwork Shine
Designed as a sanctuary, this home combines elegant minimalistic design with high functionality.
The lighting design throughout the home is used to highlight the extensive art collection without compromising the home’s minimalist aesthetic. Each piece of art required specific lighting conditions to showcase its beauty and detail, necessitating precise placement and selection of lighting fixtures.
Lutron Homeworks provided precise lighting control and customizable scenarios, while sleek, multifunctional keypads reduced wall “acne.” Additional custom programming also made it so the homeowners could access lighting controls in a more intuitive manner.
Collaboration with Joy Martin Nets ‘Harmonious’ Blend of Tech and Design
Regular meetings and open communication with Joy Martin Architecture aligned installation processes with the construction timeline and aesthetic vision.

Intuitive Lighting & AV Controls Cuts Down on ‘Wall Acne’ for Home
The project also included installing sophisticated AV solutions such as a recessed TV and soundbar over a stone fireplace in the living room. In the interest of giving the homeowners greater control over their environment, the AV, too, was hooked up to a Control4 system, which itself required more clever programming on the part of Lelch to cut back on wall clutter.
