The biggest challenge in this high-tech, award-winning beach house set in Florida’s 30A neighborhood was timing, according to Innovative Sight & Sound director of operations Forrest Walker.
Innovative’s client purchased this new home after the drywall phase was complete, and like other custom integrators on a home technology project of this size, Innovative is typically involved from the very beginning of the process.
“So, coming in late in the timeline presented a number of creative challenges for the Innovative team. Engineering and integrating a multi-floor smart home system involved repurposing existing rooms from laundry room to equipment closet or combining bedrooms into an immersive, custom home theater,” Walker says.
These changes provided plenty of compromise between the original intent of the space and the desire for something more. Innovative’s design team worked with the client and their builder and designer to bring the vision for a technological beachside oasis to life, the integrator says of the results.
Innovative Sight & Sound eventually outfitted the beach house with best-of-breed brands and components befitting its lofty surroundings, situated right on the beach in the illustrious 30A area of Florida’s panhandle.

Control4 integrated with Josh.ai provides the backbone for automation and control of the house for audio/video distribution, climate control, lighting control, motorized shades and drapes, security, and outdoor entertainment.
The interior boasts McIntosh, Bowers & Wilkins, Wisdom Audio, Sonus Faber and more, while outside solutions from SunBriteTV and Coastal Source deliver entertainment. The home also has a killer custom home theater featuring a Samsung 146-inch video wall and gaming setup for all platforms, a home gym with Wisdom Audio, and a home office command center.
A home of this size, being brought in late in construction, and integrating a system of this complexity took a team effort from every department within Innovative.
