The Z-Wave Alliance, a standards organization dedicated to advancing the smart home, has developed a line up of education sessions that will be presented at CEDIA Expo 2023 as part of the CEDIA Education Conference Program.
The industry organization states the three sessions will help attendees analyze new market opportunities, while learning about the latest protocols that define the smart home landscape.
“CEDIA Expo provides an amazing platform for dealers to learn about the technology and trends that will impact the industry both now and into the future. We’re thrilled to be able to share our expertise and help dealers consider new verticals and business models that they may not have considered previously,” comments Mitch Klein, executive director of the Z-Wave Alliance.

CEDIA’s Integrated Home Market Analysis (IHMA), released in the spring of 2022, found that dealers overwhelmingly served the uber luxury and luxury segments while only 40% served mid-market. The mid-market tier has a large addressable customer base. The Z-Wave Alliance points out these potential clients are tech savvy with disposable income and yet, the majority of integrators aren’t working in the middle market and don’t know how. Platform Playground Returns: Smart Home Protocols in 2023 and Integrator Impact

The Z-Wave Alliance emphasizes the Platform Playground panel returns for its third year to help integrators sort through the most pertinent smart home news and updates. According to the industry organization, there are more protocols playing within the smart home “playground” than ever before. As an integrator, the Z-Wave Alliance rhetorically asks, “why should you care about wireless mesh and sub-GHz networks? IoT Alliances? Open vs. closed standards?”
Smart System Cuts Hotel Energy Consumption by 20%

The organization’s third training session focuses on using a real-world project case study to explore the benefits of smart systems for decreasing energy consumption while maintaining a convenient, comfortable experience for inhabitants.
