Even in the techiest smart home, fashion is still the king when it comes to shades and other window treatments. The latest innovation from Draper, Inc., offers something for both sides of that equation.
FlexStyle is an all-new motorized window shade system designed to meet the exacting standards of the most fashion-conscious homeowner. The alluring, stylish cast aluminum brackets are available in nine colors and plated finishes.
“FlexStyle is the first shade product we’ve ever designed, engineered, and built specifically for the residential market,” says Clint Childress, Draper director of residential markets.
Childress talked with CE Pro about the company’s new wares as well as what its recent booth exhibit at CEDIA Expo 2022 in Dallas highlighted – hear much more from Childress in the video above.
“We see this as an important and expanding market and so we asked our product designers to come up with something special — something that subtly enhances any interior design.”

FlexStyle also offers a new level of performance and simplicity thanks to Somfy motors with built-in ZigBee technology. FlexStyle will offer both standard wired and battery-powered ZigBee motors.
ZigBee shades operate on a mesh network, so wireless control range can be expanded to suit each individual installation. The protocol is more stable than other wireless technologies and offers longer life for battery-operated shades. FlexStyle will still be offered with Somfy RTS.
FlexStyle features hundreds of fabric color, texture, and openness choices from American weavers Phifer and Mermet USA, plus custom colors, patterns, and graphics.
“When it comes down to talking about all the different shading solutions, Draper brings a broad offering to the table,” Childress says.
Every FlexStyle shade is custom manufactured and hand inspected in the company’s world-class Spiceland, Ind., factory, which is being expanded to accommodate Draper’s growth.
