BeON Smart Bulb Doubles as Security Measure
The BeON smart bulb incorporates Qualcomm Technologies' Bluetooth-enhanced CSRmesh platform.
Each BeON smart bulb has a slot for the BeON module (that yellow piece that’s pictured). This setup uses CSRmesh, Qualcomm Technologies’ flood mesh solution that’s based on Bluetooth Smart technology. Those wireless perks allow each BeON smart bulb to communicate with one another, as well as with the free BeON app for iOS and Android devices.
BeON smart bulbs can deliver lighting in emergency and power outage situations. However, the system also has the ability to make the home appear occupied when no one is there. No hub or router is needed. Instead, each BeON smart module can actually “learn” your lighting patterns and replay them while you’re away. The system can also be set to turn on lights whenever someone pushes the doorbell.
To deliver backup lighting, those BeON modules have rechargeable batteries built in. Each one also has the ability to “hear” fire and carbon monoxide alarms. When that occurs, the bulbs will turn on to guide users safely to exit lighting.
Each smart bulb boasts 800 lumens (60-watt equivalent). Other features include a Welcome Home option, the ability to slowly fade off, and a lifespan of about 22 years. The company even claims that the system can get smarter over time. Users can expect smart modules, accessories, and firmware, which will unlock new features as they are released.
“At BeON, we believe that as technology evolves it should become more intuitive. We should have more natural interaction with our tech, allowing us to go about our daily routines with ease,” says Alexei Erchak, CEO and co-founder of BeON Home. “Today, we are excited to be shipping a solution that makes home protection accessible for anyone and improves the security and safety of your home with a practical, affordable, and easy-to-use system. With BeON, you simply install the bulbs and live your life.”
The BeON Home Protection System is available now. A BeON starter kit comes with three smart modules and three LED light bulbs for $199, with additional BeON bulbs and modules selling for $75 each.
