Supporting high-bandwidth A/V applications, the new Tributaries UHDT Titan Series HDMI cables are now available in passive and active versions.
The Florida-based manufacturer says that its latest cabling products enable professional integrators to design and install systems capable of delivering wide color gamuts (WCGs), 60fps (frames per second) and 18Gbps of throughput.
Tributaries says that 18Gbps high-speed throughput in cables longer than 4 meters (13 feet) is becoming increasingly important with more systems requiring 4K with HDR and 4:4:4 chroma subsampling, as well as state-of-the-art audio formats that include Dolby Atmos and DTS:X.
Tributaries UHDT Series HDMI Series Employs new Metallurgy
According to Tributaries, the UHDT Titan Series of cables is its most advanced line of HDMI cables. Tributaries explains the cables utilize two new patented design elements: An advanced metallurgy, which enables longer cable lengths of passive cables, and active cables with a DDC accelerator and three discrete internal power supplies.
As a result of its new metallurgy design, Tributaries states that is passive UHDT Titan cables can carry 18Gbps HDMI signals as far as 26 feet.
Explaining its metallurgy design in greater detail, Tributaries says its new copper formulation, “has high-frequency conduction characteristics far beyond standard OFC copper.”
The company emphasizes that as an HDMI signal operates at high frequencies, it will travel on the surface of the conductor with very little depth of penetration. This is known as “skin effect” according to Tributaries, and the Titan HDMI design minimizes the loss of signal due to “skin effect.”

Employing these designs in the UHDT Series, Tributaries points out that it can offer 18Gbps passive HDMI cables as long as 8 meters (26 feet), and possibly as long as 10 meters (32 feet).
The company's new active UHDT series HDMI cables are backboned by a patented TITAN DIGITAL module, which is installed on the display end of the cables' connectors.
Designed to function under the HDMI 2.1 specification, the TITAN DIGITAL module incorporates four discrete channels that deliver 12Gbps (48Gbps total aggregate of throughput).
Utilizing USB for power, the active UHDT TITAN supplies three discrete voltages that work independently of the HDMI's 5-volt supply to prevent voltage variations from the source.
Tributaries adds the UHDT Titan active cables also employ an 18Gbps DDC accelerator designed for cables longer than 10 meters.
The active UHDT Titan Series cables are available in lengths ranging from 12 meters (39 feet) to 25 meters (82 feet), and the passive UHDT series cables are available in a choice of either 4 meters (13 feet) or 8 meters (26 feet).
