Randy Klein Named President & CEO of Crestron

Founder George Feldstein, a CE Pro Top 10 Leader, steps down as CEO but remains as chairman after 40 years of running iconic home automation company.

George Feldstein, the founder of leading commercial- and home automation firm Crestron Electronics, is retiring as CEO after more than 40 years at the helm. He is still involved in the company as chairman, but is relinquishing the chief executive role to Randy Klein, a 25-year Crestron veteran who had served as EVP marketing for the past several years.

Asked today if Crestron would be hosting a party for the new CEO, Klein responded, “No celebration here. Just business as usual.”

CE Pro will catch up with Klein tomorrow, after he’s done hosting 100 dealers from Latin America.

In a statement issued today, Crestron notes the company will stay true to Feldstein’s “original vision: to be the best at what it does, and to always remain a family company.”

Indeed, Klein is like family to Feldstein, and the founder has appointed his son Dan Feldstein vice chairman and COO. The younger Feldstein has been with the company for 20 years in engineering and operations.

In 2004, CE Pro named George Feldstein one of the Top 10 Most Influential Leaders in the custom installation industry. We reaffirmed his influence nearly 10 years later in 2013, picking him as a Top 20 Leader.

I wonder what changes will come with the new CEO ?

I doubt we’ll see much change. Randy’s been running the company with George & Son for a few years.

I am an electrical integration contractor in los angeles california, I have been trying to become a dealer for crestron for a year now. We figured it would be a good fit for both crestron nad Cyber due to the fact we do a lot of commercial automation. The first rep they sent me disappered then I later heard he quit or got terminated. The second rep they sent me told me that we were not smart or educated enough to do crestron. I was literally floored I have a Masters Degree in Engineering and I am the owner of the company So i had him help me design my first crestron system we walked the site and he spent weeks on it when it got to our engineering department we had to reconfigure it finally the end result was a very professional and thorough proposal submitted to a professor who commented on the proposal asn being one of the best proposals he has seen from a integration company. Guess what my dealership status is now just pending, because the rep says he has over 200 dealers and he doesnt have the time to approve another dealer.
