Pioneer, Panasonic Detail PDP Agreement
Kuro plasmas will integrate NeoPDP and will be supplied by Panasonic.
Pioneer and Panasonic (Matsushita) today released details of a PDP business venture, where Panasonic will supply panels for Kuro plasmas (via Engadget).
The agreement is part of Pioneer's reconstruction plan, which included terminating in-house plasmas to cut costs.
The companies say there will be an integration of Pioneer's Kuro technologies with Panasonic's NeoPDP. Panasonic says it will start supplying these PDPs in time for Pioneer's release of new PDP products in autumn of 2009.
As for the size of panels, the two companies will discuss details in consideration of customer demand, market competitiveness and the size of panels currently marketed by Pioneer.
Pioneer and Panasonic will continue to supply their own plasma TVs and the agreement should be finalized in May.
