Niveus Media Now Offers Movie Collections from HDGiants
The HD quality movies are ordered from HDGiants and sent to dealers on a hard drive. Dealers can then load the content on a Niveus server and integrate the collection into the Niveus Movie Library.
The collections are available in packages of 50 or 100 titles and include "top-rated films from major movie studios."
HDGiants has also thrown in a couple incentives:
- With each collection purchased for use on a Niveus Media Server, HDGiants will include a $75 music sampler
- HDGiants will automatically enroll participating Niveus Authorized Dealers in its dealer program

Download is great, but would you download and trust your $10k ~ $30k of movie content to a consumer grade solution. Niveus does a great job on their storage devices, they are far better (and more expensive) than the drives and RAID arrays which the consumers of an $800 MCE will be loading too. Also, with spending that much money on content, wouldn’t you want to have the original disks in case of loss?
Correction: the movies aren’t downloaded, but ordered from HDGiants. They’re sent on a hard drive and can be integrated into the Niveus Movie Library.
Download, upload or external HD, you still don’t get the actual DVD- do you??
To Joel’s point, owning the original DVD or CD adds the advantage of a second form of backup. Anthology media collections include the discs in addition to the server-grade content and metadata. Another advantage of discs is it allows for the greatest library of content to select from, since not all labels and studios are on board with the download business model.

Seriously…. what took so long? What in god’s name does anyone in the MCE business think they can do without a solution to compete with Vudu and Netflix?
Now, if someone could deliver a full-blown MCE unit for $799, then the platform might actually go somewhere.
