Alfered International, the smart lock brand of GHT Door Hardware, has launched its Alfred ML2 Smart Mortise Lock with Z-Wave Long Range in the U.S. market. The lock is marketed as a sleek keypad and patented design with a drive mechanism designed for retrofit projects in properties with long-standing, older mortise-style locks.
Toronto-based Alfred International says the ML2 offers property managers and homeowners a secure, stylish smart lock without having to completely replace or re-key existing locks, thus avoiding installation headaches.
According to Alfred International, the compatibility extends the ML2’s unprecedented flexibility regardless of lever styles, finishes and choice of keyways. The ML2 can also be ordered as a complete lock solution for new construction or doors where a full lock replacement is required.
The company says the ML2 is designed for both commercial and residential needs while maintaining code compliance and certifications. It can also be ordered as a complete lock solution for new construction or for doors that need a full lock replacement.
“Alfred is at the forefront of innovation, delivering robust and technologically advanced smart locks that cater to the needs of modern residential and multi-development rental and condo units. Our products are designed to provide unparalleled security and reliability, ensuring peace of mind for property owners and tenants alike,” said Brad Cook, Head of Product & Integrations, Alfred International, Inc.

ML2 Lock Features and Cost
The ML2 locks feature tamper-proof technology and encryption, and feature Bluetooth with add-on support for Z-Wave, Zibgee and Wi-Fi. The new Alfred Z-Wave Pro Plug-in Module is Z-Wave Long Range Certified and is running on the newest 800 series Z-Wave chip.
The locks come standard with a commercial-style, concealed door position sensor, providing increased security and smart auto-relock capabilities when installed.
Alfred markets the lock as easy to use with a touchscreen and the Alfred Home app for controlling the lock from anywhere. Users can also create and manage up to 250 unique pin codes and RFID cards, or unlimited BLE Key/app access sharing for family members, guests and other visitors who need access.
The ML2 also integrates with popular smart home systems such as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant with voice control and automation capabilities.
The lock comes with a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery, and Alfred says it is the only smart lock to offer the upgrade option of Wi-Charge’s wireless power solution, eliminating the need for replacement batteries or wired connections, ensuring the ML2 operates continuously.
The MSRP of the ML2 is $649.
