CEDIA is updating its NextGen: Smart Home Career Toolkit to expand access to globalized and regional workforce development tools by including Spanish translations for toolkit resources and regional presentations explaining the industry and viable career pathways and other resources.
The smart home industry organization says the latest additions support the organizations’ workforce initiatives by connecting industry employers with talent pipelines and increasing awareness around career pathways in the smart home channel.
In addition, to Spanish translations for toolkit resources, the update includes regional presentations explaining the industry and viable career pathways, as well as other resources such as videos, voiceovers and salary survey results, according to CEDIA.
CEDIA first unveiled Next:Gen Smart Home Career Toolkit toolkit in February 2023 to boost workforce development initiatives and engage new talent in the smart home industry. The toolkit includes ready-to-use resources that smart home integration firms can present to colleges, trade schools, government agencies, community center and more.
When the toolkit was first released, CEIDA President and CEO Daryl Friedman said CEDIA members cited workforce development as their biggest challenge.
“They’ve also told me that, if given the tools, they will partner with us to reach out to potential employees. CEDIA NextGen provides those tools,” Friedman said.
The toolkit includes community outreach resources such as videos, presentations explaining the industry and career pathways, fact sheets, a jobseeker brochure, promotional posters and classroom presentations.
For job seekers, the toolkit includes a guide to career pathways, an overview of necessary skills, average salary ranges by title, and a guide to relevant credentials and certifications.
The kit also includes examples for job descriptions, email and social outreach to target recruits, and phone interview scripts.
