Published: November 19, 2020

Theย Z-Wave Alliance, a standards organization dedicated to developing and advancing the Z-Wave wireless smart home protocol, has announced that ADT, a provider of security, automation, and smart home solutions for consumers and businesses, has joined the Z-Wave Alliance as a new Principal Member.

By joining as a principal member ADT is granted a seat on the Z-Wave board of directors, and this news follows an August 2020 announcement in which Z-Wave announced its incorporation as an independent non-profit standards development organization.

As the newest Principal Member of the Z-Wave Alliance, ADT joins other industry leaders includingย Alarm.com, Assa Abloy, Leedarson, Ring, Silicon Labs, StratIS, and Qolsys in advancing Z-Wave technology.ย

โ€œAs a principal member of the Z-Wave Alliance, ADT will collaborate with other smart home industry innovators to advance standards that create helpful user experiences and are rooted in security and privacy,โ€ says Raya Sevilla, senior vice president of product at ADT.

โ€œADT has a longstanding history of contributing to smart home security standards development, and weโ€™re eager to continue that tradition within the newly organized Z-Wave Alliance.โ€ย

โ€œThe Z-Wave Alliance has stood as an IoT and smart home industry leader for over a decade and our transition into a fully ratified standards development organization has progressed both rapidly and with monumental contribution and support from our members,โ€ adds Mitch Klein, executive director for the Z-Wave Alliance.ย
