After recently opening its 2024 TV and Audio products up for pre-order, Samsung has announced a new TV being added to its Ultra-Large line up with the 98-inch Samsung Crystal 4K UHD TV (DU9000), which now joins the Neo QLED 8K, Neo QLED 4K, and QLED 4K TVs.
Commenting on the release of the newest product, James Fishler, Senior Vice President of Home Entertainment, Samsung Electronics America noted, “Just a few years ago, 65” TVs were considered ‘big.’”
However, he continues, the preferred size of TVs has only gotten bigger over time, with sales of 98-inch TVs across the industry reportedly having grown 15 times over the last year, with a clear consumer preference for a bigger viewing experience.
One of the biggest problems that comes about as screens get bigger, however, is that the pixels used to make up images on the screens become larger as well, leading to blurrier, blockier looking images and an overall drop in picture quality.
For this reason, Samsung notes, the 98” Class Crystal UHD (DU9000) is built with Supersize Picture Enhancer, which optimizes picture quality for the bigger screen by increasing sharpness and reducing visible noise across scenes.

The TV is also designed with 4K upscaling, PurColor, and HDR – transforming all content into 4K and offering an even wider spectrum of colors for what’s on screen.
The 98-inch Samsung Crystal 4K TV also adds Motion Xcelerator2 and up to a 120Hz refresh rate for a much smoother gaming experience, according to the company. The screen even comes with Samsung’s Game Bar built in, so users can change the screen ratio to match preferred gameplay.
Samsung has also added in AI Auto Game Mode, Mini Map Auto Detection, and Virtual Aim Point to further add to the gaming experience using the TV.
The new 98” screen will be available for $3,999.99 at Samsung’s website and across select retailers.
