Landscape audio and lighting manufacturer Coastal Source is introducing the Pathfinder, a new patented omni-directional loudspeaker in a discrete design that aims to enhance audio experiences in outdoor places that are less commonly frequented, such as patios, pathways, side gardens and gazebos.
Debuting at CEDIA Expo 2024 in booth #3533, the four-pack, $1,400 speakers feature a five-year manufacturer warranty and integration with any Costal Source Plug+Play audio system. The company says the speakers come in a flexible, installer-centric design and can be mounted in softscapes, hardscapes and ceilings.
Coastal Source says its Plug+Play CMC cable system allows installers to quickly twist, connect and lock cables to the speaker without tools or soldering. Pathfinder can also be integrated with outdoor lighting, irrigation, or security systems to reduce outdoor technology clutter.
The speakers feature a 32-ohm design that enables eight Pathfinder speakers to be driven on 1-channel of a Coastal Source amplifier, offering integrators more flexibility to deploy numerous speakers across a property. Coastal Source market the speakers as a good match for its line of subwoofers for a complete experience.
According to Coastal Source, the speakers are engineered with advanced materials designed to withstand the elements.

Coastal Source: Pathfinder Aims to Bring Liveliness to the Roads Less Traveled
In a statement, Coastal Source CEO Franco D’Ascanio said outdoor audio has mainly focused on primary entertainment areas, such as backyards, pools, firepits, patios and tennis courts.
“However, as soon as you walk away from these areas the sound drops and the fun stops,” the Coastal Source chief executive says. “Pathfinder solves this problem with a patented, discrete speaker that provides high-quality omni-directional sound to all the fill-in spaces of a property where music would normally be missed.”
D’Ascanio likens the Pathfinder speakers to in-ceiling speakers installed in less frequented areas in homes such as hallways, bathrooms and entry ways.
“These playback systems enable indoor music to fill the entire home so that your entertainment is not just relegated to the main living areas,” D’Ascanio says. “Pathfinder is the world’s first speaker designed to provide the same experience in an outdoor environment.”
“For many years, consumers have been placing indoor in-ceiling speakers in their hallways, bathrooms, and entry ways,” D’Ascanio explained. “These playback systems enable indoor music to fill the entire home so that your entertainment is not just relegated to the main living areas. Pathfinder is the world’s first speaker designed to provide the same experience in an outdoor environment.”
Coastal Source will be showcasing the Pathfinder speakers at booth #3533 while at the show where visitors will also be able to check out the new CUBE hardscape subwoofer. Coastal Source will also be participating in Destination Outdoors once again where show attendees will be able to see many of the company’s outdoor lighting and audio products in action while at the show.
