Level Home, the design-forward smart lock company that made its CEDIA Expo debut this year has apparently made a big-enough impression in the market and is being acquired by Swiss door and lock automation manufacturer ASSA ABLOY.
In a post on the company’s website, co-founders John Martin and Ken Goto write that they are “taking the next steps” in the company’s journey, as ASSA ABLOY has acquired the Level Lock hardware business, IP, Level brand, and related items.
The co-founders say Level Lock will operate as an independent brand and subsidiary of ASSA ABLOY and allows the company to further grow and expand.
Level’s multifamily platform, known as Level M, will continue to operate as a standalone entity under the new name Ambient Property Technologies. Under this new structure, Ambient will focus exclusively on delivering the next-generation platform to multifamily customers, according to Level executives.
Both Martin and Goto will lead the Level Lock business for their new parent company.

In ASSA ABLOY’s announcement of the deal, the company says Level Lock complements its existing portfolio.
“I am very pleased to welcome Level Lock into the ASSA ABLOY Group. This acquisition is an exciting technological addition to the ASSA ABLOY Group and will provide complementary growth opportunities,” says Nico Delvaux, president and CEO of ASSA ABLOY.
“The acquisition of Level Lock complements ASSA ABLOY’s technology portfolio and strengthens our digital offering across multiple businesses in the Americas division,” says Lucas Boselli, executive vice president of ASSA ABLOY and head of the Americas Division. “Their innovative platform provides an easy transition from mechanical locking to digital access solutions with minimal effort.”

The company says the, Level Bolt Pro Pack and Level Lock+ Pro Pack are curated for the professional install market and offer special add-ons and integration opportunities for installers to offer their customers.
Level markets its smart locks as smart locks that look like traditional locks, eliminating the typically larger devices associated with smart locks.
The company says Level Pro Packs offer multiple ways to control the lock, including a traditional key, key fob, or phone. Locks can be managed remotely and connected with smart home systems like Apple Home, Google Home, and Amazon Alexa.
