TransAudio Group, the U.S. distributor for the British high-performance pro and consumer audio company ATC, has announced the release of the new SCS70 Pro Subwoofer.
Designed by ATC’s engineering team, which is led by Billy Woodman, the new 12-inch subwoofer features the company’s latest driver, cabinet, equalization and porting technologies. TransAudio Group states the SCS70 Pro Subwoofer can be used in systems as a single sub or dealers can set up subwoofer pairs to augment the performance of ATC monitors.
The company explains the SCS70 Pro Subwoofer incorporates a 12-inch neodymium driver housed within a sealed enclosure. The woofer is powered by a Class A/B convection-cooled amplifier that was specifically designed to mate to the driver. The sub’s rear panel offers integrators a choice of balanced (XLR) inputs from a mono or stereo source, as well as buffered and unfiltered balanced throughputs that provide connectivity to ATC monitors or additional subwoofers.
TransAudio Group and ATC note the subwoofer offers features such as 21dB of gain control, four low-pass frequencies, and a polarity reverse option that together with 180-degrees of continuously variable phase, allow for complete 360-degrees of continuous phase shift. The low-pass frequencies are set at 50, 65, 80, and 320 Hz (off), and they are delivered using a fourth-order Linkwitz Riley filter. According to TransAudio Group, the 320 Hz (off) option allows integrators to implement their own external processing.
The companies add the SCS70 Pro Subwoofer provides a pair of front-panel LEDs that communicate power on, limiting and mute/unmute, and the sub is capable of producing 110dB of continuous SPLs and 116dB peak SPL levels.
