For Mid-Century Modern Fans, the Most Beautiful Furniture with Built-in Speakers

CE Pro's resident mid-century modern fan Julie Jacobson discovers stunning wood furniture with built-in powered speakers from start-up Meili Audio, custom-made by long-time artisans and audio enthusiasts.

I have stumbled across the most beautiful audio-embedded furniture I’ve ever seen — I’m a sucker for mid-century modern — and I’m told by a dealer that the built-in speakers sound great. The manufacturer is a Canadian start-up called MeiliAudio but the proprietor Konstantin Mazin is a long-time craftsman whose firm MazinCraft specializes in high-end custom interiors.

He’s a man of few words, with little to show on the Internet, but you can find his stunning woodwork on social media, including PinterestYelp, Facebook and Houzz.

I discovered Meili through a Linkedin post by Mike Steiger of West Coast Audio Video Gallery in Vancouver, B.C.

He posted an image of a mid-century modern stunner that now sits in his company showroom, along with the comment: “Custom TV stand with built-in speakers. Designed to look good, sound good, and hide all the cables for a clean look.  Hand crafted locally in Vancouver. On display in our showroom.”

In the words of Meili Audio

Located in Metro Vancouver we specialize in hi-end custom made entertainment units, home theaters, furniture with an integrated stereo system, and much more.

These TV stands are perfect to furnish your entertainment area and make your home an elegant modern style and refined place in a peculiar way to excite a desire for complementing your living room.

The level of craftsmanship and build quality of these stands are extraordinary. Cabinets are fully CNC-machined. The system comes with its own set of power amplifiers (which is chosen individually to satisfy all of our clients’ needs) and the sound is sophisticated, pure, and clean. Bass power, definition, mid-range transparency, upper treble purity, sound-stage focus are truly exceptional. Does a great job of reproducing the realistic sound movie effects, and all sorts of music.

Steiger tells CE Pro he discovered Mazin a couple of years ago at a local trade show and “was really taken by his designs.”

He adds, “We met again and I took the opportunity to put one of his pieces on display recently.”

For his part, Mazin tells us Meili designs and builds each piece from scratch, with three designs currently available (as shown on the sparse website) — the  These can be delivered in about two weeks, he says.

“We are developing custom options,” he says, while developing “a few more concepts.”

While the formal audio-speaker business is new, Mazin’s gorgeous woodwork is legendary in the Vancouver area through his MazinCraft business.

Make no mistake, Meili is more than just a millworking firm, according to Mazin: “We’re a company comprised of true audio enthusiasts, engineers, and product specialists.”

Contacting Meili Audio

Meili ’s website is under construction, but the company responded to my contact request in just a couple of days. Currently there is no website for MazinCraft, but the company is all over social media with images and methods for contact (links above).

If you’re in a pinch, just email me for Mazin’s contact information.

Steiger says the speaker furniture starts at about $9,000 and “they sound great.”
