Smart home device manufacturer Eve Systems, a subsidiary of multinational electrical engineering company ABB, is launching the Eve Dimmer Switch, a smart dimmer light switch with Matter-over-Thread technology that allows for integration with all major smart home platforms and versatile control.
“We know how important it is for customers to have choice when it comes to their smart lighting, and a dimmer switch was the natural next step in our family,” said Jerome Gackel, CEO of Eve. “With Eve Dimmer Switch, we’re giving users the flexibility to set the perfect brightness for any moment using their finger, app, voice, or automation.”
Features of the New Eve Dimmer Switch
Eve’s new Dimmer Switch adds to the growing Matter-over-Thread ecosystem, offering compatibility with major smart home platforms. Designed with a hybrid touch button/rocker interface and flicker-free dimming, it provides users with multiple control options. As a Thread-powered device, it can contribute to network stability by acting as a router node within a smart home setup. The switch also operates without cloud dependency, aligning with a privacy-focused approach. Its introduction supports the broader adoption of Matter, a standard aimed at improving interoperability and simplifying smart home integration.
Like other smart switches, users can control the Eve Dimmer Switch with the company’s app, a third-party smart home platforms like Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa and Samsung SmartThings, as well as voice assistants such as Siri, Google Assistant, and Alexa.
The Dimmer Switch is designed for both single-pole and 3-way switch configuration for upgrading standard lighting to smart lighting.
According to Eve, the $49.95 Dimmer switch, available sometime next month, is aligned with the company’s Light Switch in terms of both design and price. The company markets the Thread connectivity foundation as enhancing the stability and responsiveness of a smart home network and automation reliability.
The company says keeping a similar design, cost and Matter-over-Thread technology is meant to make it easier for users to choose the right switch and integrate it with other devices and smart home systems such as Eve Energy or Eve MotionBlinds.
