A couple of years ago when SnapAV relaunched its networking products, the switches, access points and routers were well received by residential and commercial dealers. Now approximately three years later SnapAV's Araknis brand has announced a new line of network switches with a whole new choice of features.
The new generation of Araknis switches feature the company's OvrC remote networking technologies. Araknis plans to reduce the prices of its existing 100, 200 and 300 series products to make room for its new switches.
“Since we launched our first Araknis products back in 2013 , we have improved our quality processes and practices, and felt the switch line needed a refresh,” says Ayham Ereksousi, category manager, Araknis Networks. “We've put a lot of thought and innovation into this new family.”
Araknis points out the three new product series target specific price points and applications starting with the 110 series that incorporates features such as Unmanaged+ and OvrC. Highlighting the products within the 110 series, Araknis notes the line includes a five-port model that can reside in small spaces.
“With typical unmanaged switches, dealers have no visibility to happens behind the switch. Although managed switches are recommended, we understand pricing pressures, so we introduced a solution,” says Ereksousi. “The 110 series is unmanaged from an installation point-of-view; [it is] just plug-and-play. However, dealers can now claim the switch on OvrC and extend visibility to the edge of the network.”
Araknis' mid-level 210 series offer partial PoE offers dealers and their clients PoE functionality, and the line includes an eight-port fanless model.
“We received a lot of feedback asking us to develop 'unmanaged PoE;' a PoE solution for when a big PoE budget isn't needed [for example] a job with a few IP cameras and access points,” comments Ereksousi. “This was a gap in the product line that is now filled with the 210 series. All ports are PoE capable, they simply use a smaller PoE power budget than the 310 series.”
Rounding out the line, the flagship 310 series provide dealers with a choice of fully managed switches with PoE and PoE+ across all ports.
“We take quality very seriously and have invested tremendously in our team, tools, processes and products,” states Ereksousi. “With the new line of switches and WAPs we released earlier this month, we are in a position to innovate and be an industry leader.”
The new 110, 210 and 310 rear-port switch products are available now, and the front panel versions will ship later this summer.
