Providing the audiophile community with a new preamplifier with state-of-the-art features for today’s listening habits, Simaudio has introduced its Moon 891 Network Player/Preamplifier.
The Montreal, Canada-based home audio manufacturer states that its latest product is its new flagship solution and it provides audiophiles and music lovers with a host of state-of-the-art technologies and features. Simaudio says the new Moon 891 Network Player/Preamplifier offers users a benchmark-level streaming DAC (digital-to-analog converter), as well as a phono stage to spin vinyl; the company’s proprietary graphical user interface (GUI), and its North Collection chassis.
“The 891 network player/preamplifier was created without design restriction to express the finest nuances in every recording and to offer unrivaled listening pleasure,” boasts John Carroll, managing director of Simaudio’s U.K.-based importer Renaissance. “It is the most complete Moon product with an exceptional set of features that will satisfy the most demanding music lover and deliver years of owner satisfaction.”
Some of the other proprietary Simaudio features the Network Player/Preamplifier utilizes include the company’s Moon Damping Base (MDB), which is described as a mechanical system that minimizes parasitic vibrations that help to cause microphonic noise. The company also point out the Moon 891 Network Player/Preamplifier also utilizes Simaudio’s M-RAY2 volume control, which employs discrete resistors and other premium components.
Moon 891 Network Player/Preamplifier Streams a Wealth of Digital Content
According to the company, it developed the new preamplifier with today’s media in mind and the diversity of content available. using its MiND2 streaming platform, the Moon 891 Network Player/Preamplifier is capable of playing digital media stored on local networks and streaming content providers. The preamp is designed to work with the MiND2 platform’s companion iOS and Android app to quickly access homeowners’ digital audio libraries, streaming services, and options such as Apple AirPlay, Spotify Connect, and TIDAL Connect as a Roon Ready component.

Externally, the company points out, that users will immediately notice the preamplifier’s 5-inch color screen on the unit’s front panel. The display offers volume control, input selection; it provides access to the setup parameters of the Moon 891, and it displays metadata and cover art.
Simaudio adds the Moon 891 Network Player/Preamplifier ships with its Moon BRM-1 remote control, and integrators can pair the preamplifier with its Moon 861 Dual-Mono Power Amplifier to form a complete Moon-based stereo audio system of electronics.
