Melco Audio N1-S38 Digital Music Library

Available in the U.S. from Luxman America, the Japanese audiophile manufacturer Melco Audio has announced its N1-S38 Digital Music Library.

Melco says that its latest product is a new, ground-up design that includes a new chassis, casework and power supplies. The N1-S38 incorporates a new set of system electronics, as well as a new mainboard, new mains transformer, supply and local regulators, and an audio-specific 3.84 TB SSD hard drive. Melco explains the SSD drive employs the company’s proprietary layered, rigid SSD mounting system that directly connects to the data path without any intervening RAID controller.

The company emphasizes the N1-S38 Digital Music Library is hand-made in Japan and its chassis utilizes a sturdy 3mm stainless-steel base to help minimize unwanted vibrations and the rest of the unit’s casework is constructed from two-tone aluminum that ranges in thickness from 2mm to 5mm.

Describing the Digital Music Library’s front panel, Melco Audio points out the product uses illuminated positive-click fascia control buttons, along with an easy-to-read OLED display panel that communicates system status, and a USB port.

In addition, the N1-S38’s connectivity options include rear-mounted die-cast Amphenol USB ports for the connection of a rear-mounted DAC. The rear-panel also offers expansion, import and backup ports for improved performance and durability, along with a dedicated Neutrik RJ45 Player port, a LAN port, and a SFP fiber port.

Melco Audio offers the N1-S38 Digital Music Library in a choice of black or silver finishes.
