Comparing its capabilities to 1,500 home theater systems, SoFi Stadium’s 4K Samsung Infinity Display spans more than 70,000-square feet that includes complementary audio with more than 260 JBL speakers that are built into the screen’s frame.
Samsung says the dual-sided display is the largest videoboard ever created for sports. Engineered to provide stadium patrons an immersive experience, the Samsung Infinity Display sits 122 feet above the playing field in full view of everyone.
Utilizing more than 80 million pixels, 2,200-pound HDR10+ enabled videoboard is 120 yards long and its tallest panel stands about 40-feet tall, while its smallest panel is about 20-feet tall.
Explaining how the 80 million pixels are employed to deliver 4K HDR images, Samsung says the pixels are spaced 8 millimeters from center-to-center, and the screen can be divided by operators to showcase congruently programmed content that ranges from in-game statistics, to live and/or animated content.
To design the screen, the global electronics company points out that engineers analyzed the stadium’s architectural drawings to develop the shape and orientation of the Samsung Infinity Display. Samsung emphasizes the design of the massive videoscreen was paramount to the project. The screen’s shape and size were chosen to ensure that everyone in the stadium can see the screen.
