With the home theater market heating up, manufacturers are responding to the latest trends within the category, including the popularity of Dolby Atmos, 4K and streaming media content.

Augmenting its product line, Audio Gear Group, the U.S. distributor of M&K Sound residential and professional loudspeakers, has announced an update of M&K's existing four architectural loudspeakers to help dealers better serve today's generation of home entertainment.

M&K says the newly overhauled speakers, as well as two new full-range speakers, a new in-wall subwoofer and companion subwoofer amplifier will be available to dealers in June, and all of the speakers incorporate the company's new frameless flush grilles to make the speakers more room friendly.

“With the existing model updates and new SKUs added to M&K's built-in line we now have all the tools to address the needs of custom integrators and homeowners who seek the very highest audio performance for distributed audio and home cinema applications,” says Dave Chai, president, Audio Gear Group. “The IW-5MK II is especially helpful for Dolby Atmos systems. The IW28s subwoofer and flagship IW-300 full-range speaker make built-in home cinema systems with M&K studio-quality performance a reality.”

The updated speakers include the IW-5MK II ($599 each) 4-inch, two-way loudspeaker; the 5.25-inch, two-way IW-85MK II ($699 each) loudspeaker; the IW-95MK II ($799) 6.5-inch two-way loudspeaker, and the IW-150MK II loudspeaker ($1499 each), which incorporates two 5.25-inch woofers and three 1-inch tweeters.

Audio Gear Group states the IW-5MK II ships with round and rectangular grilles to allow dealers to match its aesthetics with installations that require object-based surround sound in-ceiling height channels. Moreover, Audio Gear Group notes the IW-150MK II also incorporates M&K's “stealth” grille design, and it also utilizes a sealed back box to ensure its sound quality regardless of the wall environment.

Adding to its line of architectural products, M&K has introduced its IW-300 full-range speaker ($3,199 each) that employs a pair of 6.5-inch woofers and three 1-inch tweeters. Other new products from M&K include the IW-950 ($899 each), which utilizes two 5.25-inch woofers and a 1-inch tweeter, and its new IW-28s in-wall subwoofer ($899). The sub like the other products incorporates a frameless grille, and a pair of 8-inch woofers. Powering the new sub is a companion outboard amplifier, the VR500A ($1,099), which delivers 500 watts into 4 ohms, and it provides features such as volume, polarity, low-pass filter and a three-position EQ switch.
