CE Pro is just learning that longtime custom integrator James Michael Riley, “Mike Riley,” owner of Progressive Integrations in Johns Island, S.C., passed away back on December 12, 2021.
Progressive Integrations is a pioneering custom integration firm founded back in 1995, when few people knew they needed professional installation for home theater and other electronics. Riley evolved the company over the years beyond just audio and video to incorporate communications, lighting control, networking, and more.
Riley was born in North Charleston, and he called the Lowcountry home for all of his 59 years.
He is survived by his wife of four decades and the love of his life, Yvonne Riley. He is also survived by his children, James and Ashley; five grandchildren; his mother, Tetsuko “Sue” Riley; and his brothers, Bill and Gregory. In death, he is reunited with his father, Laymon D. Riley.
Mike was a visionary, known for his technological intellect and innovative thinking. He was a man of many accomplishments, including his business, Progressive Integrations. He was spirited and most admired for his quick wit, infectious smile, and booming laugh.
He had a way of impacting every person that he crossed paths with. He transcended to the next adventure of existence with the same vigor that was such a core part of his character.
Celebration of life details will be announced at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to the Coastal Conservation League in honor of Michael’s love of nature.
Progressive Integrations’ projects were featured over the years in CE Pro and early editions of HA Pro, CE Pro’s original title. Also, CE Pro’s former sister publication, Electronic House, which serves end users, also included projects from Progressive Integrations over the years.
