Meyer Sound systems have been deployed on some of the biggest venues and by some of the biggest acts in music and entertainment.

About a decade ago, the company entered the Hollywood post production market, and then more recently, the residential home theater market. And now Meyer Sound has introduced its Amie-Sub compact cinema subwoofer

Designed to complement its Amie Precision Studio Monitor, the sub was developed to give sound editors in smaller studios the ability to accurately assess low frequency content, as well as serving commercial exhibition and home theater enthusiasts.

“For both artistic reasons and efficiency of workflow, it is critical that the early stages of film audio creation be monitored with precise accuracy so they will translate smoothly into the final mix,” says Steve Shurtz, cinema specialist, Meyer Sound. “The new Amie-Sub ensures that resulting LFE content will be ideally balanced [to] conform to all applicable SMPTE [Society of Motion Picture & Television Engineers] specifications, and allow trouble-free extension into bass management techniques for surround formats.”

Engineered to provide high-power output and clean transient reproduction with headroom, the low-distortion subwoofer delivers a frequency response of 25Hz to 125Hz.

Meyer Sound says the sub produces flat amplitude and phase response to support accurate sound reproduction.

The sub's cabinet includes an angled corner for connectors that enable flush placement against a wall. Meyer offers an optional ceiling bracket to allow integrators to hang the sub from a ceiling, and the company says that a complete 7.1 system can be powered from a single electrical outlet via the sub's PowerCON AC loop output and Amie speakers.

Meyer Sound adds that dealers can also use the sub with its larger Acheron Design Screen Channel Loudspeakers, and HMS series of surround speakers.
