As the headphone market has evolved and transformed from a niche audiophile product to a mainstream fashion accessory, traditional product manufacturers have had to adjust their design philosophies.
The latest example of this is the newly announced limited edition F703 FREITAG x Sennheiser headphones from Sennheiser. Limited to just 1,500 units, these new headphones are part of the company's URBANITE line of products, and the audio company says that it collaborated with the Swiss accessory company FREITAG to develop the headphones.
“This limited edition is a perfect fusion of Sennheiser's expertise in developing innovative audio products and FREITAG's visionary approach of creating something new and exciting through recycling,” says Oliver Berger, head of global design management, Sennheiser.
Sennheiser says the collaboration takes its URBANITE black on-ear headphones and covers them in “bold colored swatches of recycled truck tarpaulins covering the headband.” Sennheiser also says that FREITAG takes the same material that covers the headband and covers the headphones' carrying case to complete the aesthetic.
Engineered to produce a club sound experience, the headphones are rated to reproduce a frequency response of 16Hz to 22kHz, and they include a 1.2-meter cable, an inline remote control and a microphone that allows users to take calls and control their music on their smart devices.
