Focal‘s Utopia line of products has been the benchmark loudspeaker product for many people for a long time. Throughout this time the line has been primarily targeted at traditional two-channel audiophiles, but now with the release of the new Via Utopia and Viva Center Utopia home theater owners can assemble a complete multichannel system that matches the performance of any two-channel system.

Audio Plus Services (APS) the distributor of Focal in the U.S. says latest additions to the Utopia III line of products are three-way designs that are engineered to provide users with speakers that are easy to drive, and the ability to handle lots of power. From a pure listening perspective, APS adds the speakers are engineered to provide a clean midrange and low directivity on the horizontal axis to control the speakers’ phase and 3D imaging capabilities.

Included in the Viva and Viva Center Utopia are the company’s proprietary Beryllium tweeters and “W” sandwich drivers setup in D’Appolito configurations. APS explains the only major difference between the two products beyond their intended applications is the mounting hardware that affixes the speakers to their mass-loaded stands.
