Augmenting its line of home AV receivers, the Harman brand Arcam has introduced tis AVR5 home theater receiver.
The AVR5 is designed to complement the company’s other Class A/B receivers—the AVR10, AVR20 and the flagship Class G AVR30. The new Arcam receiver provides 12 channels of immersive audio capabilities, including Dolby Atmos with up mixing from Dolby Surround, as well as DTS:X with up mixing from DTS: Neural:X.
According to Arcam, the new receiver is capable of providing homeowners with a 7.1.4 immersive audio experience, and it also supports the latest video formats such as 4K, Dolby Vision HDR and Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) HDR.
Arcam points out the AVR5 supports the eARC HDMI technology, and the company notes the receiver will provide an upgrade path for HDMI 2.1 for the support of uncompressed 8K video for all of its inputs and outputs.
Internally, the new Arcam receiver incorporates ESS ES9026PRO DACs found in its AVR30, along with the ESS HyperStream II DAC.
The Cambridge, U.K.-based manufacturer emphasizes the AVR5’s Class A/B amplification produces a total of 1.5kW of power through the use of a custom, in-house designed power supply.
In addition, some of the other options built into the new Roon Ready certified Arcam AVR5 receiver include Apple AirPlay2, Bluetooth aptX HD, Google ChromeCast, Spotify Connect, and Dirac Live room correction platform.
