While aesthetics were the primary driver for the systems design in this coastal home out in the Hamptons of New York, the client did not want Audio Breakthroughs to compromise when it came to the AV capabilities and automations present throughout the space.
In designing the AV and control systems for this Hamptons home, Audio Breakthroughs took a piecemeal approach, moving from room to room, to best understand what technology needed to be placed where.
Starting in the living room, Samsung’s The Frame TV was used to hide entertainment in plain sight while Sonance invisible speakers are placed flanking the TV. The speakers themselves are further enhanced by Anthem Arc equalization technology, which is performed on a room-by-room basis.
The media room took a similar approach, with Audio Breakthroughs installing an 83-inch LG OLED TV recessed into the wall and flanked by Bowers & Wilkins and SVS in-wall speakers and subwoofers. Sonance Invisible speakers make another appearance to cover for Atmos and rear channels, as does the Anthem receiver for equalization, with a Control4 Halo remote helping to tie control of all systems together into a singular interface.
Lutron Palladiom keypads and shades were used extensively throughout the project, owing to their ability to fit in with the home’s modern aesthetic, according to Clark Spencer, Vice President of New York-based Audio Breakthroughs.

Moving outside, Sonance landscape speakers bring the audio experience to the backyard, while a Samsung Terrace Outdoor TV and in-ceiling Sonance speakers create a nice, shaded entertainment area where the homeowners and guests can look out onto the nearby beach and sand dunes that line the Hamptons’ coast line.
“Hidden outdoor access points helped provide coverage to the beach while also allowing us to locate the speakers so that they would blend in perfectly with the environment, creating the ideal experience without compromising aesthetics,” noted Spencer.
Lutron QSX and Control4 help extend control to many of the systems out here as well, with Lutron handling lighting and shading, while Control4 takes over other elements, including the outdoor awning, AV, heaters, and pool.
“The client is thrilled,” Spencer stated. “And we are so proud of creating an optimal AV automation experience while blending perfectly into the décor of the home.”
