There are also several new options that allow you to share each receiver with multiple areas of the house. Grant Clauser | 04/09 06:14 AM, 1 Comment
There were a lot of dropped jaws and mutters of disbelief when Samsung recently announced its new 4K Ultra HD TV would sell for $39,999. On the other end of the spectrum is a 4K TV that’s actually in the zone of sorta affordable (compared to $40K), and it’s from Sony. Sony showed off two new 4K TV models at CES 2013. Now the company is announcing the prices for those models, and the smaller of the two (at 55-inches) is priced at $4,999. The larger, 65-inch model will be… View this story

Marantz just dropped a pair of new AV receivers - not literally, of course, The NR1504 and NR1604 are the kind of components that you’d want to handle with care. That’s because each of these new receivers is designed to be the cornerstone of your home theater system. Both units can put the power of the web into your AV setup, with access to Pandora, SiriusXM and Spotify. [Just FYI: Subscriptions and/or fees may apply.] The NR1604, however, has Apple AirPlay, so users can easily stream content from an iOS… View this story

With its Sony movies and music artists, a wide range of high-performance video projectors and displays, and some rocking new speakers and receivers, Sony is the one company that can give us the entire home entertainment experience. And that experience is better than most, thanks to the Sony ES (Elevated Standard) line of products for the custom installation channel. This year at CES 2013 I had one of the only demos that I have ever witnessed with top-to-bottom products all from one manufacturer … except for the video projection screen.… View this story

I haven’t seen much in the way of 4K Ultra HD displays in Amsterdam at ISE 2013, but the one I saw at Planar convinced me we need this format. We first spied the 84-inch 4K edge-lit LED display at CEDIA Expo last September – demonstrated by Runco, Planar’s residential counterpart. Now at ISE, the display is in its rightful place at the Planar booth. While canned content of pretty ladies with flowery dresses was being demo’d, product manager Yannick Nicol cranked out the good stuff for me – a… View this story

Details about the course follow. 1. Don’t mistake bigger for better Every major electronics manufacturer launched their newest and best 4K devices at the recent CES 2013.
