ASCENDO Immersive Audio GmbH will debut its new The10 PASSIVE LED PHANTOM VOICE speaker at the CEDIA Expo, September 5–7, at the Colorado Convention Center in ASCENDO Sound Room (SR) 3.
The new, versatile speaker solution was created to meet the growing demand for high-quality sound in shallow and narrow spaces, making the speaker a companion for LED screens from brands that include Samsung, Quantum Media Systems, Christie, and Barco, as well as non-perforated or nearfield projection screens.
According to the company, The10 PASSIVE LED PHANTOM VOICE features an advanced design for seamless integration. The speaker incorporates a 12-degree wedge shape is engineered to deliver high levels of sound coverage in theaters with one to three rows of seating. ASCENDO asserts that whether the speaker is used for a home cinema or a professional screening room, every seat is immersed in the soundstage.
The10 PASSIVE LED PHANTOM VOICE Also Supports Traditional Systems
The ‘Phantom’ in the speaker’s name isn’t just for show the company boasts—it refers to the stereo phantom image, which can be adjusted vertically using Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology. This allows users to position the voice exactly where it belongs: at the center of the screen in an immersive audio experience.
“This new narrow, angled design opens up a world of possibilities. Whether you need a high-performance top speaker, wide speaker, or high speaker layer, The10 PASSIVE LED PHANTOM VOICE adapts to your needs,” says Todd Sutherland of Sutherland AV Marketing, distributor of ASCENDO in the United States and Canada. “It’s even ideal for traditional surround sound setups, enhancing your audio experience from every angle.”

At CEDIA Expo 2024 in SR3, ASCENDO will demonstrate The10 PASSIVE LED PHANTOM VOICE with its new flagship DIRECTOR LED Wall in-ceiling speaker. Positioned below a Seymour-Screen Excellence Ambient Visionaire Black screen, ASCENDO explains that three of these The10s will serve as balancing speakers mirroring DIRECTOR models above the screen. Working together, The10s and the DIRECTORs lower the perceived phantom sound source so that voice and dialogue sound as though they are emanating from the center of the screen.
Other demo participants include Christie’s M 4K15 Pure Laser projector and madVR’s Envy Mk2 processor for video, and StormAudio’s ISP Evo20 processor for audio. German media furniture manufacturer, Moovia, will exhibit its one-of-a-kind LYON media sofa inspired by the French countryside. In addition, Kaleidescape will hold hourly demonstration comparisons between video streaming and its video and audio performance.
