IC Realtime has announced the launch of IC Realtime TV, a proprietary, generational-lead native Apple TV application that integrates live security camera monitoring directly into the streaming environment, now available for download on Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD devices.
How IC Realtime TV works
Looking to capture the full security suite, IC Realtime TV integrates live surveillance, event monitoring, playback, door station controls, and site maps directly into Apple TV. All this is done through an app that sits alongside the other streaming apps on the Apple TV home screen.
The app itself is built around five core tabs, Home, Live, Events, Map, and Settings, each designed to mirror the intuitive feel of consumer streaming applications. It also operates over the home’s existing internal network, meaning every Apple TV in the residence becomes a live security and safety monitoring station simultaneously, with no additional hardware, wiring or HDMI matrix switching required.
Beyond that, while in the app, there are several different actions that can trigger based on specific activity within the system.
For instance, when a visitor rings a connected doorbell, the camera feed immediately goes full screen on the active TV, allowing the homeowner to see and hear who is at the door before, the display automatically returns to the multi-camera grid.
Similarly, when motion detection is triggered on any camera, a car entering the driveway, or a person approaching a side gate, that channel snaps to full screen automatically, then returns to the grid view.
Why integrators should take note
Video security has had a curious transformation as of late. Where once it was strictly utilitarian meant exclusively for preventative measures, it has grown to be more akin to a lifestyle add-on for projects. Yes, they’re still being installed for peace of mind, but you also have some homes using them to view wildlife as a relaxation moment.
As a result, homeowners are now requesting being able to see feeds of their security cameras through their TVs, seeing as how the TV is often the most watched and easily accessible screen in the entire house, often serving as the central point of connection for the entire household.
Perhaps the biggest takeaway for integrators is how the app can operate across multiple TVs, eliminating the need for costly HDMI cabling and matrix switching. Not only does this make the whole security experience a lot more approachable for homeowners with less setup required in the field, but it also makes showroom demonstrations much easier with less infrastructure required.
According to IC Realtime, setup takes under two minutes. After downloading the app, users tap a single button to scan their network and then IC Realtime TV automatically discovers all connected cameras and brings them live across every Apple TV in the home at once.
