Airthings has announced that the Wave Enhance is now officially being shipped to consumers in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. Introduced at CES 2024 alongside the company’s first-ever air purifier, the Wave Enhance is the latest addition to Airthings’ portfolio of air quality monitors and features a high-precision NDIR sensor for detecting carbon dioxide (CO2) in the environment.
In addition to its NDIR CO2 sensor, Wave Enhance also includes sensors for airborne chemicals (VOCs), temperature, humidity, and air pressure, as well as ambient noise and light.
While not as extensive as the company’s Wave Plus or View Plus models, the Enhance differentiates itself with a compact form-factor and an emphasis on detecting airborne contaminants (as well as other factors) that impact sleep health and cognition. Users of the Wave Enhance can even access a “Sleep Disruptors” report on the Airthings app.
Instead of tracking user sleep, however, the report focuses more on potential disruptors that could be causing a bad night’s sleep, specifically, air quality, light, or noise.
“Indoor air quality can impact our ability to fully recharge, stay focused, stay healthy, and feel our best,” said Emma Tryti, CEO of Airthings.

Additional Features of the Wave Enhance
Wave Enhance can be mounted on a wall, laid flat, or sit upright on a surface using the built-in table stand and is battery operated.
Airthings also touts the air monitor as being ideal for offices (both home and commercial) and classrooms, really driving home the focus on cognitive health and focus, and it’s not without some substantial research backing it up.
CO2 has already been documented to affect cognition when in high enough concentrations within a space, and can also be a major contributing factor to poor sleep quality. Outside of these studies, however, CO2 is often used as a marker for ventilation quality within a space, with high CO2 levels pointing towards low ventilation and likely higher concentrations of other pollutants, like VOCs, as well.
By putting the focus on CO2 with the new Wave Enhance, Airthings is putting the focus on one of the most significant pollutants in public spaces, as well as one of the most pertinent health issues in the modern world: that being a lack of good quality sleep.
The sensor is also part of Airthings’ larger commitment to creating products that are designed with circular principles in mind. These principles focus on using responsible materials and manufacturing, reducing energy and carbon footprint, and enhancing the overall product experience, including its end-of-life.
