Elite Home Theater Seating (Elite HTS), a leading manufacturer of luxury home theater seating and furnishings, recently shared details and project renderings of its collaboration with the homeowner on an ‘amazing’ Spider-Man themed home theater in Coral Gables, Fla.

This visionary and ambitious $2.5 million undertaking, spearheaded by entrepreneur and Spider-Man superfan Mike Johnson, was recently unveiled. The Spider-Man themed home theater resides in an 1,150-square-foot space within his palatial South Florida estate.

Construction of the Spider-Man theater commenced in September 2023 and the project is expected to be completed by spring 2025, according to Elite HTS, which has assisted on numerous impressive themed home theaters over the years. Renderings help bring Johnson and Elite’s vision to reality.

Childhood Dream of Spider-Man Immersion Comes to Life

From Toronto, Canada to Miami, Johnson’s journey has been shaped by his passion for superheroes, particularly Spider-Man. His dream was to create the ultimate Spider-Man sanctuary, where he could immerse himself in the web-slinger’s world.

Johnson began construction on the Spider-Man theater in September 2023, which not only includes the theater room but also a 700-square-foot lobby, a comic book memorabilia room, and even a dedicated concession area.

Lightapalooza took place in late February, and the growth of the event has mirrored the rapid ascension lighting fixtures and controls.

The theater also features a unique sliding wall (see video at bottom) that reveals a massive display screen, an immersive sound system, and seating arrangements custom made by Elite HTS. CEO and filmmaker Bobby Bala previously collaborated on the renowned “Batcave theater” for another superfan.

Now in his 50s and at the height of his success as an entrepreneur, Johnson is turning his childhood dream into reality. With the extensive renovation of his multimillion-dollar estate underway, the owner has spared no expense in building out his ideal home theater system.

Collaborating with Elite HTS, the company enthuses that he conceptualized a Spider-Man themed theater that ‘transcends imagination, combining cutting-edge technology, stunning visuals, and meticulous design details’ in homage to Spider-Man’s iconic universe.

“I saw the amazing work Elite HTS did on their previous Batcave project a few years back, so I thought I would consult with them on my theater since I would be purchasing many of my furniture pieces from them anyway,” says Johnson.

“They were happy to assist, and they’ve been a great help to our design team.”

With expertise in Visual FX and CG animation, Bala enjoys collaborating on exciting and unique themed theater projects. He recently directed and produced a 30-minute sci-fi film, The Shipment, which was featured in many film festivals including Tribeca.

“Though our sole focus is home theater furniture, I’ll occasionally consult on cool themed theater projects because of my vfx background. Mike and I are similar in that we both enjoy a challenge and bringing big, epic projects to life, so I can definitely appreciate his ambition,” Bala comments.
