UK-based audiophile brand Monitor Audio is launching the Climate Series 3G, a new line of flexible, water-resistant loudspeakers designed to withstand tough outdoor environments.
According to the manufacturer, the Climate Series 3G features the company’s signature C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter coated in deep black to meet discreet installation requirements. The tweeter, first developed in 1982, is designed to deliver clarity, realism and detail for both inside and outside use.
Monitor Audio says the new speakers, which come in a medium and small size, use the company’s Rigid Surface Technology (RST II), a highly refined precision tool capable of being driven by the most powerful motor systems. The technology creates a pistonic motion for clarity, high-fidelity and life-like sound.
The company says the “expertly crafted crossover” was designed, voiced and tuned by an in-house acoustic engineering team and uses a selection of high-quality conductors and capacitors for pure signal delivery to each unit.
Monitor Audio’s Climate Series 3G Speakers Stand Up to the Worst Weather Offers
A key feature of the outdoor speaker is of course its ability to withstand the elements outdoors, and Monitor Audio says the speakers boost an IP66 rating, meaning they are capable of remaining outside in heavy rain or snow.

In addition, an expansion valve system helps maintain a consistent audio performance despite quick changes in weather. The expansion valve essentially allows the internal air pressure in the cabinet to balance with the external speaker, according to Monitor Audio.
The speakers also feature a one-piece molded cabinet made from ABS and reinforced with glass fiber to protect the internal components.
Monitor Audio says its Climate Series 3G speakers are also designed to be simple to install thanks to a Quik-Link bracket system that allows the two models in the product line to be positioned “almost anywhere with minimal hassle.” Speakers can be rotated 180 degrees both vertically and horizontally to be aimed in the desired location. A large Auxiliary Bass Radiator (ABR) and fully sealed front baffle house the drive units.
Monitor Audio also markets the ABR as one of the key acoustic and design features. The concave ABR panel works like a sealed port tube to prevent ingress from the elements while allowing the bass to reach lower frequencies for full low-end performance.
