A few years ago, Energy Speakers released its well-received Connoisseur C-5 loudspeaker to a happy audiophile market. The new C500 is the replacement for the popular Connoisseur C-5 and it provides homeowners with greater extension and less distortion than its predecessor.

The C500 features a chambered 1-inch aluminum dome tweeter that sits atop a pair of 6 1/2-inch composite fiberglass woofers that enable the speaker to play dynamic movie and music passages without strain. Energy rates the speaker’s frequency response at 35Hz to 20kHz and its sensitivity in a typical room environment at 94dB.

The company offers the speakers in a choice of black ash and cherry, and to further increase its performance options a pair of port plugs can be inserted in the speakers’ rear ports to contour its performance to its environment.
