Longtime distributor Capitol Sales has abruptly shut its doors. In a terse post on its website, the Eagan, Minn.-based distributor says:
“We have enjoyed doing business with you! Please be advised that Capitol Sales Company, Inc. is no longer in business effective August 12, 2021. We have enjoyed doing business with you over these several years, and regret having to close our doors. Please direct any and all inquiries you have regarding this business closure to our attorney, Chad A. Kelsch, Esq. (763) 398-1676 / [email protected]“
Capitol Sales, which in recent years had shortened its name to simply Capitol, was one of the first distributors that operated solely with drop shipping nationwide instead of physical warehouses for dealers to visit. The company focused on the residential integration channel carrying smart home, home theater, telephone, integrated home systems, and commercial AV products. The company has several popular brands, thousands of products and offers free parcel ground freight shipping for all online orders shipped to their customer’s primary business address.
Most recently, the company was focusing on instituting health and safety standards for its employees during the pandemic, according to president and CFO Curt Hayes.
“At Capitol, we are doing what we can to support our dealers through current and post- COVID-19 days. The health of our employees and dealers is our top priority. We have implemented additional disinfecting procedures, contactless order pickup and continue to follow the ever-changing guidelines from both the CDC and Minnesota Department of Health,” said Hayes.
