Home of the Year Project Spotlight
- Name & Location: Edge Theory, West Palm Beach, Florida
- Integrator: Petrone Technology Group, Wellington, Florida
- Award: 2026 Home of the Year, Best Whole-House/Smart Home Project under $1M, Silver
Designed by Petrone Technology Group, Edge Theory brings together lighting, shading, audio, video, networking, security, pool control, motorized bug screens and environmental systems in one cohesive smart-home experience. The full character of the home, however, only manifested as the project progressed further along.
During prewire, collaboration among the homeowner, design team and technology partners transformed the original plan for a traditional TV lounge and dedicated theater into something far better suited to the homeowner’s lifestyle. The theater was eliminated, a golf simulator was introduced, and the main room became a dynamic, entertainment hub.
Business collaborators on the project included Crestron, Leon, AV Pro Edge, Future Automation, Coastal Source and JL Audio—all whose engineering teams worked extensively with Petrone to develop multiple custom solutions that went well beyond standard implementation practices while ensuring serviceability and performance.
Petrone specifically recognizes Leon Speakers for providing the custom Edge Media system and 15-foot Horizon soundbar at the center of the Club Room design.
Edge Theory entertainment flows with homeowner’s lifestyle
That space, the Club Room, is now the heart of the home. Its centerpiece is a custom-engineered 15′ x 9′ video wall that supports immersive movie viewing, sports, gaming, golf simulation, and multi-source content. The redesign also improved traffic flow and strengthened the room’s connections to the bar, patio, pool, and outdoor living areas.
Whether hosting friends for the big game, playing a round on the simulator, or relaxing by the pool, the technology simply works. It supports the homeowner’s lifestyle, stays virtually invisible throughout the property, and makes every experience feel effortless.
Theater-quality performance with no visible equipment
For theater-quality performance with no visible equipment, wiring or treatments Petrone collaborated closely with Leon and JL Audio to engineer the largest residential Leon Edge Media system ever produced.
It features a custom 15-foot Leon Horizon soundbar, in-wall JL Audio Fathom subwoofers, and discreet speaker integration, delivering powerful sound while keeping the architecture clean.
The same approach extends to the Great Room, where invisible speakers were carefully integrated to provide immersive performance with no visual intrusion.
Last minute change necessitates shrewd infrastructure design
Another major hurdle came during the build. Design revisions reduced the available equipment room footprint by nearly 50 percent, forcing a complete redesign of the system infrastructure.
Petrone rose to the occasion, maintaining full functionality and long-term reliability within a dramatically smaller space. Centralized infrastructure, a managed network, video distribution, conditioned power, and engineered equipment systems now provide a dependable foundation behind the scenes.
