AAMP Global announced that Alex Camara will be leaving his position as Executive Vice President of AAMP Global and President of AudioControl to pursue new opportunities, effective March 1, 2023. Camara will remain a shareholder in AAMP Global and an observer to the company’s board of directors.
Camara acquired AudioControl in 2013, advancing the company to one of the most trusted and relied-upon suppliers in both the professionally-installed home entertainment and 12-volt automotive aftermarket channels. Under Camara’s leadership, AudioControl consistently experienced double-digit growth while simultaneously garnering numerous awards for design innovation, product quality and outstanding customer service.
Based in Seattle for over 45 years, AudioControl is the No. 3 brand in the 2022 CE Pro 100 Brand Analysis for home theater processors (33% market share), the No. 6 brand for AVRs (32% market share) and the No. 6 brand for amplifiers (37% market share).
“I am not retiring,” Camara tells CE Pro emphatically. “The timing just makes sense for me to create some ‘white space,’ take some time to decompress with my family and look for new opportunities. I am an entrepreneur at heart so I will be looking to find an opportunity and grow the business. I remain very supportive of AAMP’s strategy and I am staying vested with the company as a shareholder. AAMP has integrated the car technology business and home technology business together very well.”
Right now, Camara does not have any particular opportunity in his sights, but he noted that he loves the custom electronics industry and technology.
He says he will miss the daily interaction with his team and with integrators the most. As for what he will miss the least?
“Supply chain challenges,” he says quickly. “Ask any manufacturer and they will probably say the same thing. Although, we are in a much better place than we were and AudioControl was not as affected as other brands.”

AAMP Global acquired AudioControl in April 2022 with the goal of leveraging numerous market and operating synergies between the two businesses. In the past year, Camara has worked with the AudioControl and AAMP Global teams to help integrate and drive the 12-volt business, while also leading AudioControl’s residential and commercial audio business.
“We are delighted with our acquisition of AudioControl,” said Scott Forst, CEO of AAMP Global. “The synergy between the two businesses is strengthening our market position and has helped us identify a number of exciting growth opportunities across both the automotive and residential businesses.”
“It has been an amazing ten-year period growing the AudioControl brand, building an incredible team, and delighting our loyal partners and customers with products and innovations beyond their expectations,” said Camara. “I am incredibly proud of the AudioControl team and what we have achieved together, and the impact we have had in our industry. Following our successful acquisition by AAMP, it is now an appropriate time for me to allow others to exercise their leadership skills and for me to pursue other interests, while remaining active in my role as an observer to the board and investor at AAMP Global.”
For over 34 years AAMP has been in the automotive aftermarket space. The company’s R&D capabilities have positioned AAMP as the market leader in highly engineered integration solutions, which enable aftermarket audio, safety, and infotainment products to work seamlessly with factory systems. AAMP is known for its PAC, AudioControl, EchoMaster, Stinger and Connects2 brands.
“It’s business as usual at AudioControl with our great team in place, but I am never far away if they need me,” he adds.
