Bond is continuing to build out its outdoor offerings for the smart home with the launch of Shield Pro,, a weatherproof housing designed for the Bond Bridge Pro RF-to-Wi-Fi device hub. This will finally allow a Bond Bridge to be installed outdoors, closer to motorized screens, shades, pergolas, and other outdoor appliances, instead of indoors where the walls and housings may otherwise interfere with communication signals.
According to the Cresskill, N.J.-based company, the IP67-rated Shield Pro is built to withstand outdoor conditions, protecting the Bond Bridge Pro from rain, dust, and other environmental factors. Its plastic construction ensures that RF signals remain uninterrupted, allowing the Bridge to maintain its 3,500-square-foot range even in demanding installations.
To simplify installation, Shield Pro includes knockout holes with weatherproof glands, removing the need to crimp CAT 5 wires. Its compact 8.5” x 7.2” x 2.6” design comes with mounting brackets for easy setup.
According to Bond, the Bond Bridge Pro supports up to 50 connected devices, including indoor and outdoor shades, pergola louvers, ceiling fans, awnings, shutters, and outdoor heating and cooling systems. With its app, users can control these devices through a single interface and integrate them with popular platforms like Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and other home automation systems.
Shield Pro is the latest addition to Bond’s growing focus on outdoor automation. Earlier this year, the company introduced the Breeze Pro, a wind, rain, and sunlight sensor, and the Firefly One, a low-voltage outdoor lighting dimmer—both of which were recognized as finalists in the 2024 CE Pro BEST Awards. Bond has also forged partnerships with outdoor-focused brands like Equinox, Sol-Lux, and Infratech, expanding its influence in this category.
