As we move into late summer and early fall, the rougher weather is likely to wreak havoc on any outdoor living space, especially as hurricane season picks up steam. It seems somewhat timely then that Bond will be bringing its Breeze Pro weather sensor to CEDIA Expo 2024, where the company will be showcasing the Breeze Pro in both the Bond booth (#4109) and the Sol-Lux booth (#3319).
Originally debuting at the International Window Covering Expo back in April 2024, CEDIA Expo 2024 will mark the Breeze Pro’s official introduction to the custom integration channel at an event.
Being able to measure wind, rain, and sunlight, the Breeze Pro is an ultrasonic smart sensor that, when connected to the Bond Bridge Pro, can be used to program automation triggers in motorized screens, pergola louvers, and shutters based on weather conditions, a long requested feature from consumers.
The Breeze Pro also provides real-time weather data, signal strength, and battery status to the Bond App.
Breeze Pro Weather Sensor “Designed for the Smartphone Era”
As told by Bond Home Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer Chris Merck, “We looked at other wind, rain, or sun control solutions and realized that the industry needed a sensor designed for the smartphone era. That is what Breeze Pro is. There is just nothing else out there that works this way.

“The entire process of connecting the sensor, configuring what weather events to look for, wind speed thresholds, what devices should be triggered and in what direction – it is all set up through the Bond Home App. No need for DIP switches and complicated instruction manuals.”
For installation, the Breeze Pro gets mounted vertically atop a 1-inch pole, pointed north, ideally placed about thirteen feet high off the ground. The good part about this is that there are no wires involved, as the Breeze Pro communicates with the Bond Bridge Pro via RF. Set-up also occurs entirely within the App, and the sensor itself is powered is powered by built-in solar and supercapacitor.
The Breeze Pro also comes with two back-up AA batteries and can be powered separately by a 12VDC connection—though this connection is required in climates experiencing freezing weather so the sensor can de-ice itself as needed.
A Weather Sensor Built with Control Systems in Mind
Another feature that Merck believes sets Bond’s Breeze Pro apart from other weather sensors is how it interacts with other control systems.
“Breeze Pro also is built with control system integration in mind. With traditional sensor solutions, a schedule from a control system may unintentionally override the sensor, resulting in inconvenience or even damaged screens.
“Some other sensors anticipate this and lock out the user while they are triggered, which causes a lot of frustration. Breeze Pro intelligently locks out automatic operation from schedules and voice assistants during high wind events but allows users to still control the screen in the app directly.
“This kind of intelligence is only possible with a smart sensor,” added Merck.
For those interested in playing around with the sensor themselves, the Breeze Pro is shipping now. MSRP is set at $599 and includes the sensor, a built-in solar power panel, and two AA batteries for backup power.
