Room acoustics issues are an easy topic in the process of room design to overlook. Often times in the world of consumer audio, for example, audiophiles will typically spend large sums of money on amps, speakers, source components and cables, while completely ignoring the most important component in an audio system: the room. There are also problems in commercial environments, including recording studios, bars, restaurants, performance halls and many other venues, that people often don't even realize have acoustic issues.

Since the late 1970s the Indianapolis-based manufacturer Auralex has been helping commercial and residential dealers eliminate the issues that plague installed sound systems. Adding to its line of SonoLite products, the Midwestern company has announced that it is shipping its newest SonoLite products.

The new products include new SonoKits that are designed like the company's Studiofoam Roominator Kits. The SonoLite Kits provide dealers with preconfigured solutions that feature its SonoLite Panels and SonoLite Bass Traps.

The SonoLite SonoKit-1 includes eight SonoLite Panels, two SonoLite Bass Traps and 40 EZ-Stick Pro tabs. It is designed for rooms 228 feet and smaller. The SonoLite SonoKit-2 features 12 SonoLite Panels, four SonoLite Bass Traps and 64 EZ-Stick Pro tabs. It is designed for rooms larger than 228 feet.

In addition to the preconfigured kits, Auralex is also offering its SonoLite Cloud that are 1-inch thick, 2-foot by 4-foot panels that install individually or in arrays to cover larger spaces. Auralex includes the mounting hardware, and it offers the panels in a choice of either black or tan.

Auralex's other new SonoLite product is its SonoLite BassTraps, which install vertically or horizontally where walls and ceilings meet. Utilizing its proprietary Studiofoam Pro material, the BassTraps are 3-inches thick and prevent low-frequency build up and cancellation.
